Un capolavoro tutto siciliano ma che si affaccia verso uno scenario di carattere internazionale: Nuovo Cinema Paradiso. Tornatore e Morricone insieme in una pellicola interessante e particolarmente coinvolgente, che porta avanti un importante tendenza già messa in atto da Tornatore, ovvero esportare la nostra sicilianità, la nostra storica e profonda cultura in tutto il mondo. Siamo nel dopoguerra siciliano e nello specifico nel paesino di Ciancaldo, un piccolo borghetto con pochi abitanti e un cinema che rappresenta una vera via di fuga per gli abitanti, costantemente annoiati dalla monotonia del paese e dai ritmi fin troppo tranquilli (per alcuni). Il film si concentra proprio su questa struttura, il Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, dove nasce e si consolida una profonda amicizia tra Salvatore e Alfredo. Le storie di quel tragico periodo, le storie della piccola cittadina e quella dell’innamorato protagonista, si mescolano con la storia personale del protagonista quando ritornerà dopo anni in Sicilia. Salvatore, oramai affermato regista, ritorna dopo 30 anni nel suo paese per i funerali di Alfredo. Salvatore in quei pochi giorni, capirà di essere molto affezionato alla sua terra, alla sua gente e alla madre che ha sempre vissuto da sola perché vedova di guerra. Ma non solo, in quei giorni Salvatore ripensa a tante cose, alla sua adolescenza, alle cose che sono state e a quelle che non sono state… e la mente ritorna alla sua AMATA Elena.. la donna della sua vita ma anche la sua più grande ed immensa sconfitta personale e sentimentale. Salvatore infatti non si sposerà MAI e la tristezza farà parte della sua vita.  Cos’è diventato dopo trent’anni Nuovo Cinema Paradiso? Semplicemente un capolavoro di cui vantarsi. Semplice ma non troppo, estremamente emozionante.. Tornatore nella regia e Morricone con la sua profonda bravura musiciale.. un risultato che lascia attonito il mondo intero.

Salvatore, now an established director, returns after 30 years to his country for Alfredo's funeral. Salvatore in those few days, he will understand that he is very fond of his land, his people and his mother who has always lived alone as a war widow. But not only that, in those days Salvatore thinks back to many things, to his adolescence, to the things that have been and to those that have not been ... and the mind returns to his AMATA Elena .. the woman of his life but also his greatest and immense personal and sentimental defeat. Salvatore indeed will NEVER marry and sadness will be part of his life. What did Nuovo Cinema Paradiso become after thirty years? Simply a masterpiece to brag about. Simple but not too much, extremely exciting .. Tornatore in the direction and Morricone with his deep musical skill .. a result that leaves the whole world stunned.
